Blue Lakes Trip Planning

July 18 - 20 - How does this date sound to everyone? Not sure where we would camp the first night. I will have to look into that or if someone has any ideas, please post them.

Or we can meet in Angels Camp around 7:00am on Saturday the 19th and head up to the trailhead then.

We can always camp near the trail head on the otherside of hwy 4, hermit valley camp ground I think is the name, basically an open area.

Saturday meeting works for me!

On the trip last year, we meet early Saturday, headed to the trail and tried to get thru the Gate Keeper! That's has far as I got before I broke my axle.

Anymore input? I know it may be a little early to think about a July trip but I need to submit for days off ahead of time.:D

Do we want to only do the Deer Valley trail (Blue Lakes) or do we want to include Slick Rock? I saw Deer Valley trail only and save Slick Rock for a one day trip. But I am open to either.

heard great things about this trip and steven has practically made me promise that i'll attend. gonna have to start the planning now so it will happen.

Yeah, he told me he would show me how to drive my truck and not get damage.....Steven has seen my lack luster skills behind the wheel, but he talked me into coming along...and if it is not too bad, maybe the whole family will do the camp trip..

i might be interested in the recce run as well. i've only run the trail from the blue lakes side (plenty of camping there btw) to hwy 4. kinda worried about it though b/c Ron broke with 245's, granted he was locked.

I am very open to recce trip dates.

In regards to the actual trip, Gary and I are putting the final touches on it now. We are thinking of starting from the North end, camping at Alpine Lake Saturday night and doing Slick Rock on Sunday.

I think this will be a very popular trip and there will definitely be a cap on the number of vehicles so sign up early. IMHO (need to talk with Gary first) I would like to not allow guest to sign up for the first two weeks to give NCLR members a chance to grab the first slots.

I think we have settled on the weekend of July 19/20 but a detailed announcement will be made soon.

Depending on the drive to the North end, I will most likely camp Friday night in the Blue Lakes area.

Thinking about it...just got a lot of things up in the air in July so I have to see how my schedule pans out. Sounds like a good trip though!
