Anybody thinking about December's MORG yet?

I hope to make it, especially since it's been ages since my last MORG. Will be my first wheeling at age 40...

Don't hurt yourself, I hear once you turn 40 you become VERY fragile.
I'm out, I have a x-mas parade to go to and some mid-afternoon cocktails to drink......

Cool!! Where are you coming from? The usual meet time is 10am at the Ranger Station. There's a parking lot (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=36.770445,+-121.414134&sll=37.75581,-122.476204&sspn=0.012028,0.019312&g=1710+19th+Ave,+San+Francisco,+CA+94122&ie=UTF8&ll=36.770552,-121.414129&spn=0.003047,0.004828&t=h&z=18) just past the entrance where we chit chat as Rovers show up and air down.

That's right. You guys go ahead and have fun without me. I don't miss going out with you at all. Tonight is Karaoke night again. I guess "One in a million" is gonna get another run tonight! Might even throw in some Kenny Rogers for good meassure, and perhaps finish the night with some Johnny Mathis.

BUT I WOULD MUCH RATHER BE WHEELING!!!!!!!! I feel DTs coming on :o Man, I miss seeing you guys and hangin' out.

Is the new Supercharged Rangie gonna see it's debut in Dec?

I will be back by March. However, I'm not sure if I'd want to go out on a snow run. Remember that by the time I get back I would probably be up to my neck in seeing snow and freezing to death. Besides I hear that shaver lake can get a little carnage in the winter since the obstacles that would normally be easy to go around are hidden under the snow and I STILL have no sliders. If my wife's Disco ever decides to stop acting the fool, I might actually have some extra money one of these years to buy some!!!!

Leigh, it is on Saturday, 10am at the ranger station. It looks like my would be co-pilot, Mark, might be coming down in his D2 as well. He's had the 3 amigos on and off for a few weeks and is concerned about taking it off road, but I've got him almost convinced to just drive it. I'm also trying to get him to join the club, he's really interested in it (and a Heep convert!).

Another successful MORG! Good turn out - 8 rigs max. We went to both old and new obstacle courses, the gulch for lunch and then the top of the world. Everyone did really well - no apparent carnage. Great group, great weather. A special thanks to Brenton for leading the pack and thanks to everyone for coming out.

Brian, John, Mark, Bob, and Jeff missed all the excitement after they left the park ~3:00-3:30. My buddy Mark (not Griff), Baron, and myself decided to stick around the old obstacle course to get some mud on the trucks. Baron covered the entire engine compartment of his LR3 in muddy water from the water hole and wound up having to get towed out of the park. We wound up leaving the obstacle course at 6:15. It was quite the MORG this time!!! I'll let Baron tell the whole story...

Of course they were closed so i left a voice mail saying that was my LR-3 covered in mud sitting out front and it wont start, and gave them my number. so we'll find out whats wrong on monday. <center>

I would've been there, but was out getting acquainted with the new puppy. Will try to make it down there next weekend, but the sliders haven't even gone on the new truck yet.

Sorry to hear about the LR3 though... been there, done that :(

GriffSC
12-08-2008, 04:40 AM
wow! that's no good, baron (pleasure to meet you, by the way), sorry to hear that. i'll tell ya, i stay clear of those mud bogs anymore because of past issues.

it was good to get out. sorry to leave early, but had to get back to the family and get some "dad stuff" done.

the truck seems fine, despite my moronic moves on the rocks and that log obstacle. i checked it out in detail that night and i see no permanent problem anywhere. there are no leaks and everything looks straight, except for the steering guard.

thanks for leading, brenton! will post my pics when i get the chance.

Sorry I missed it! Sounds like a good time (except for the LR3 taking a swim).
Mark, are you sore? Did the young guys wear you out? :D

GriffSC
12-08-2008, 04:56 AM
i am sore, but not from anything the whipper-snappers did. i'm sore from moving/stacking rocks to unstick myself.

was the most i've been stuck ever. guess old age has caught up with me after all.

esteban
12-08-2008, 05:07 AM
Nobody had a winch or a tow strap? Where were you stuck?

GriffSC
12-08-2008, 05:40 AM
brenton and i were able to get some rocks under my left front so i could extricate myself off a large boulder in the rock garden in the old obstacle course. for the sake of time, jeff (modded D1 in pic) pulled me off the log obstacle in the new obstacle course.

what's lame is that i got through that log obstacle quickly and easily the first time. i then tried to fly thru the course a second time and messed up the line and got HC'd.

i did complete the rock garden after getting off the boulder, but not before getting slightly hung up on another rock on my rear diff. you would have gotten quite the chuckle.

btw, we did speak of needing your girth for standing on one corner of my truck when i was stuck on the logs...

so i found out what is wrong with the LR3. it needs a new battery and a new alternator. yep, and its going to cost 1400 bucks. anyone know where i can get a alternator cheaper?

Desertcrawler
12-09-2008, 06:43 AM
Thats expensive. I actually did the alternator replacement on mine myself, it was pretty easy (at least for a D2).

I would check post in the "Parts wanted" section of this site, LRRFORUMS, as well as cruise around Discoweb. I found an alternator for a D2 for about 1/3 the cost of a new one that I got from a rollover and it has been working fine. I used Roverguys.com....

SCREW Livermore!! These parts are covered by warranty..PERIOD! That includes labor required to perform the repair. Show me, in writing where it states that we cannot get mud on our vehicles! Mine is covered in mud every time I get service. Fremont is the only place to take your vehicle. That's why we all bag on Livermore LR. Don't be a sucker. Man this pisses me off.

Bear,

I am in Livermore (saw your truck parked there) and I can tell you stories from others about their dealership.....JUST AVOID.

IF you are heading to LR Fremont, I may have an extra 15% discount card around somewhere...I can look. It came from Nikki Barstow at LR Fremont Be glad to see if I can find it and get it to you. I work in Danville, right at Diablo and 680, so you could get it to me at work....let me know, I'll look for it/them....I gave a ton away...

EDIT: Talked to Nikki, she said tell Steven the service manager, that you are a club member and they will give you a discount if it is not under warranty (but it is/should be)....go in and say hello to Nikki too, so she sees a new club memeber! She is a huge supporter.

Why did you have to pay at all? I still would want to know why this was NOT covered under warranty. It breaks, in warranty period, and was a result of "normal use" of the vehicle? You may want to go back down and ask that question, and the girl for dinner?
