Seeing as how the Rangie wasn't quite up to the task of driving 3.5 hours each way for the MORG yesterday due to a blown head gasket (and it looks as though I missed a good MORG!) I found myself in dire need of a wheeling fix today. What perfect timing when Mike (DiscoX) called this morning and suggested we take a run up Cow Mountain this afternoon. I felt safe enough to risk it so close to home so I brought 5 gallons of water and we hit the trail.
Going up the hill the truck started to miss and cut out, but we pressed on and I waited to see if it would smooth out. We got off the main road and started up a hill and it died just as if I'd turned off the key. After a little trouble-shooting and checking electrical connections it lit off and we were back on the trail. We decided to play it safe and stuck to the easy trails in case Mike had to tow me out, but it never skipped a beat after that...just turned out to be a loose wire.
We drove over to the Ukiah side of the mountain with a few deviations to side trails along the way and checked out the Westside staging area, then headed home. Grabbed a few pics along the way:

Got some okay shots, a few poseur pics, and ya gotta love the one of the friendly little critter we encountered on the trail. Looked to be about the right size for eating...:D
Got another NCLR Cow Mtn. trip in mind for the fall...stay tuned!
