Who's going? I'm asssuming it will be at Hollister?
I can't make it -- will be on vacation in Yellowstone -- but one of our new members is interested in attending so I am posting this on his behalf to get the planning going... -- it sounds like a good weekend to camp out there if you aren't heading out of town..
P.S. - Gary - can we put each of the 12 MORG's for the year on the "upcoming trip" calendar so they show up?

I'll probably be there, though i won't have any new toys to test out this time round:( Maybe I'll have my steelies by then, but that's about it. I'll be coming from S.F. if anyone wants to meet up along the way. I like Chuck's meeting spot at Robert's Market in Woodside off 280.
Oh yeah Luis, if you're coming this time, this is your reminder to bring a lunch:p

Ok wise guy! I'm now shaving my back, clipping my toe nails and showing up at YOUR big family weekend. Don't worry about me breaking the kiddie pool - I'll wear my water wings so I don't panic in the deep end!!

If any of you are concerned about the fires burning in the southern part of the Bay Area, I spoke this morning to the rangers at Hollister who reported that it's smokey, but they are open this week. That should bode well for July 5th. As of now, CDF is reporting the Brown fire in Hollister is 80% contained.
There are no restrictions at this time at Hollister other than motorcycles.

Not going, but I am curious if anyone would be interested in going to Cow Mountain that Saturday. I am going to be in the area (Santa Rosa) for work the day before, and convenient for me to check out Cow Hollow on Saturday.
Plus if you are planning to participate in the Cali Trophy @ Cow Mtn - would be great to explore/prepare.

Hello All
I am brand new to the NCLR group. If any are planning to join up on the 5th at Hollister I would be most welcome to meet up. I live in Menlo Park so meeting somewhere in the area (Bucks or Up that way) would be great. I do hope to see you all in an upcomming trip, targeting the Gold Lake run this summer.
I hope to get a chance to meet you all as the opportunity presents itself. My rig is a 2007 sport with the only mod the upgrade to Cooper Zeon LTZ tires for a little more rubber on the trail. (So far).
So GLAD TO BE HERE and hope to meet you all soon. Chuck and Lil'Crawler were my intro to the NCLR at a Land Rover event at Quail Lodge (one of many and various off road runs I have done).

I was thinking of doing the same. For me, it's only 40 miles more to Ukiah from my home than Holllister in the opposite direction. Would you prefer the entrance to Lakeport or Ukiah?
Phil.

Thank you all for the kind welcome. I am glad to find there are other "sporties" is the group. I look forward to meeting you and all the others when we can. It looks like the 4th will be busy for all in different directions but I will check out the trip calendar for an opportunity to join an upcomming trip.

If you guys are serious about coming up to Cow Mountain, I'll meet up with you there. Of course, I'll come in from the Lakeport side as that's the side I live on but I can meet you on the mountain if you want to come in from the Ukiah side. I might possibly get Mike (DiscoX) to join us if he can get away from work, we went up there together last Wednesday for a couple hours after I got off work.
It's been very smokey up here, but it was actually a bit clearer up on top of the mountain. Today was really nice in Lake county, both in terms of a welcome break from the smoke and more moderate temps.
Cow mountain is very dry and dusty right now, however...though that should come as no surprise! I'm sure Hollister's about the same.
I was thinking about going down to Hollister for the MORG, but it doesn't look like it's going to be very well-attended this month, and I'm going camping up in Willits Saturday night/Sunday so it's a long drive back up. For me, this is the perfect alternative to get in some wheeling with friends on Saturday...

It doesn't matter where I go as long as I'm wheelin' on the 5th. It would be nice to meet some new members and get more to join us, so I'll go to Hollister.

Where is the Bucks in Woodside? I plan to be there around 8am. I will have my cb on as well.

Aww man. I did a write up yesterday, but maybe I forgot to hit the submit button after previewing. Here goes again.
The D1's were out in full force with Jim (and his brother), Randy, Tyler (with Frank and Grandfather), and Enrique (with son and daughter). I (with my friend Anup) was the lone D2 and Gary mixed it up with the D90.
I met Jim and Randy around 10:30 at the obstacle course where I did a run through the smaller rock garden. After running the section of ruts first Randy spotted me over the rocks. Shortly thereafter Tyler showed up and it was time to hit the stairs. We did some climbing and then made our way to Jarrell's Gulch.
Gary and Enrique arrived while we were there. We chatted for a bit and ate lunch and headed towards the quarry. While there Enrique had to use his winch with the D90 as an anchor point. A little later we lined up for the class picture and called it a day.
There wasn't any real carnage. It looked like Enrique may have bent the door sill a little from when he had to get winched, and Randy had a bump too under the door sill. When I asked Randy if he was able to open the door he could, so it must not have been too bad. :D I may have been a little too rough on the front end as my steering is now out of alignment.
Overall it was pretty quite at the park. There were only a handful of other trucks this time, which was a stark contrast to June when the Power Wagon's were there. Here a some pics. The full set can be seen from the pics link in my sig.

That could have been Jim (MrVideo). He has a Sony miniHD cam which has been used at the past few MORG's. I too am waiting to see a clip from his camera, mainly for image quality purposes.

Good write-up Brenton!
Tell me more about Enrique needing to use the winch; been thru the rock quarry and have not had to use a winch on that part. What part of the quarry did he get stuck?

I know you've all been waiting for the video from last Saturday's Hollister run. While the group was much smaller than June, it made for much more intimate video opportunities.
This is a rough edit and nothing fancy, just the real audio and video as it happened. Even the crunches & creaking of the crowds comments are clear.
Better quality copies are available
Enjoy.
