This is not a sanctioned event at this time, merely putting out feelers for interest in a trip to Cow Mountain (on the border between Lake and Mendocino counties).
This could be a day trip as it's about 2 1/2 hours from either the Bay Area or Sacramento, or an overnighter as there are camping areas with the So.Cow Mountain OHV recreation area as well as many other places to camp in the Lake county area. Here's a little more info on the place:
http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/cowmtn.html
And a nice article from a dirt bike magazine:
http://dirtbike.off-road.com/dirtbike/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=331846
And from the Cal. Assn. of 4-wheel drive clubs:
http://www.cal4wheel.com/JRaudy/cow.html
Videos can be found on YouTube as well simply by searching "Cow Mountain".
Post up if you have any interest in doing this, and whether you prefer a day trip or o'nighter as well as suggestions for a date. I'm thinking early spring, within the next month or two. It could be put together very quickly and I plan to do some pre-runs of the area as I can get there from my house in about 20 minutes. I have someone who has driven their Rangie in the area extensively and would be willing to go with me.

Why not make this a club trip and submit a trip request?

Hi Will. Don't know protocol on this kind of thing at this point and wanted to see if there was any interest in doing the trip before submitting a Trip Request...

Hey Dan,
Sounds good; let me know if you need help with the trip request protocol and format; glad to help!

Aloha, Ron..! You back home now?
I've looked at the NCLR calendar and come up with these potential dates:
April 19th/20th
May 10th/11th or 17th/18th
I don't want to make it back-to-back weekends with another NCLR trip or the MORG and these dates seem to be wide open at this point. I'd prefer the earlier, April date and I think it's quite do-able to get it setup in that amount of time. Watcha all think?

Dan, earlier date or April date you posted works better for me!
I won't be able to go in May; the entire month of May for me is reserved for Search and Reseach training when I get accepted (waiting for final approval).

I can't make it April 19/20, but any other weekend should work. Also, May 4th (Sunday) is the annual Knoxville trail clean up & BBQ sponsored by the Napa County Sheriff Dept. I might try to make that.

It looks like we've got a few folks who can't make it the weekend of April 19/20th, but for the most part that seems to be the favored date so we'll go with that. Submitting a Trip Request...

Okay...having said the above and submitted a trip request with NCLR, I now find that I have a conflict. An event that I was going to attend was planned for the following Saturday (the 26th) and it was just changed to the 19th. If I swap weekends and make the Cow Mountain trip the weekend of the 26thy/27th will that still work, or not work for all of you that have said you'd attend?

April 26 wknd can still work for me!

I see that's the same weekend as the Wilderness First Aid class...so I guess that would create a conflict for some people...

I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to bump it back to one of the May dates I posted earlier. Seems that early May is still wide open as far as the NCLR calendar. I realize I can't accommodate everyone, but I can try...:D
