My kids are running out of summer vacation and I happen to have a few Fridays off, so we're looking at going camping with a little bit of wheeling. We wanted to camp at Pinecrest, but all sites are book for some time in the future.
The book California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails (http://www.amazon.com/Northern-California-Backroads-4-Wheel-Trails/dp/0966497651/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1280111001&sr=8-1) lists a trail to Eagle Peak following FR4N12 and FR5N74.
Has anyone been down this 10 mile trail? Is it possible to camp along the side of the trail? What was the condition of the trail when you traveled it? Bears (and if so, are they car smart?)?
Thanks for any information.
